Antoine de La Fosse

Antoine de La Fosse ( Lord of ) d' Aubigny; (* 1653 in Paris, † November 2, 1708 ) was a French diplomat and playwright.

Antoine de La Fosse worked for a time as secretary of the French legation in Florence and worked in the same position for the Marquis de Blachefort later. During the Spanish War of Succession he fought on the side of his employer, among other things, against the Austrians and was awarded after the Battle of New Ulm ( August 15, 1702 ). After the war, La Fosse acted for some time as secretary to the Duke of Aumont.

Reception

La Fosse wrote four tragedies, of which Manlius was one of the most excellent and most popular tragedies of the 18th century. He also wrote elegies, epigrams, idylls, madrigals and Oden.
