Anton Anatoljevich Babtschuk (Russian Антон Анатольевич Бабчук, Ukrainian Антон Анатолійович Бабчук / Anton Anatolijowytsch Babtschuk; born May 6, 1984 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Russian- Ukrainian hockey player, who since November 2010 with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League contract stands.

Career

Anton Babtschuk was total selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 by the Chicago Blackhawks as 21 players. In January 2006 he was transferred for Danny Richmond to the Carolina Hurricanes, with whom he first won the Stanley Cup in the same year.

On 28 January 2006, the defender scored his first goal for the Hurricanes. On 6 February 2007 Frantisek Kaberle was reactivated after an injury, so that Babtschuk in the farm team of the Hurricanes, was the Albany River Rats sent. He was the only defender that his club was able to make to the River Rats, as he was the only defender with a contract for both leagues. Since he did not want to play for Albany, he was suspended the next day by his club. In the 2007 /08 season Babtschuk played in the Russian Super League for Avangard Omsk HK. The 2008 /09 Babtschuk played back for the Hurricanes. In 2009 he returned again to the HK Avangard Omsk Russia.

In November 2010 he was transferred together with Tom Kostopoulos for Ian White and Brett Sutter to the Calgary Flames.

Due to the NHL lockout played Babtschuk September to December 2012 for the HK Donbass Donetsk in the Continental Hockey League.

Internationally

For Russia Babtschuk took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2001 and 2002.
