Anton Eduard van Arkel

Anton Eduard van Arkel ( born November 19, 1893 in 's- Gravenzande, † March 14, 1976 in Leiden ) was a Dutch chemist.

He studied medicine in Leiden and chemistry at the University of Utrecht. First, he then worked in industrial research and returned in 1934 to the University of Leiden as a high school teacher back.

He developed together with Jan Hendrik de Boer, named after two researchers van Arkel -de Boer process for obtaining highly pure metals, which is used especially for titanium, zirconium and hafnium.
