Anton Giulio Majano
Anton Giulio Majano ( born July 5, 1909 in Chieti, † 12 August 1994 Marino ) was an Italian film and television director and screenwriter.
Life
Majano graduated in political science and began his film career in 1937 when he collaborated with Luis Trenker condottieri; over the next barely twenty years he has been for dialogue, an assistant director or screenplays - responsible for numerous films - often for Mario Costa; after the Second World War, he worked on several notable works such as La domenica della buona gente or sulla città Terrore. In 1943 he made his debut as a film director and put to 1961 some ten works which, however, little remained in my memory.
Its real significance lies in his television work; from 1955, with the film piccole donne, he was chief representative and inventor of the genre of Teleromanzo to which he contributed numerous films. He also filmed - after 1961, often working exclusively for the small screen as a mini-series - as well as classics such as Treasure Island, An American Tragedy, The Beloved of the Great Bear or David Copperfield for Italian television. He is, with a getting a little too strong sentimentality leaning to work, as one of the most important early directors of the medium.
The actress Paola Majano is his daughter.
