Antoni Macierewicz

Antoni Macierewicz ( born August 3, 1948 in Warsaw) is a Polish politician, member of the Sejm in the I., III. , IV, VI. and VII term, from 1991 to 1992 Minister of the Interior in the government of Jan Olszewski, 2006-2007 Vice- Minister of Defence in the government of Jarosław Kaczyński, 2006-2007 Head of sluzba Kontrwywiadu Wojskowego ( Military Counterintelligence ) and a leading member of the party Patriotic Movement (Ruch Patriotyczny ).

Life and work

1968 to 1989 he was a member of the democratic opposition. He is considered one of the founders of the Committee for the Defense of Workers (Polish Komitet Obrony Robotników, abbreviated KOR).

From 23 December 1991 to June 5, 1992 was Macierewicz interior minister in the government of Jan Olszewski.

From 1991 to 1993, from 1997 to 2005 and since 2007 he sat as a member of parliament ( Sejm ).

Since July 2006, he was responsible for the resolution of the early 1990s created the Polish military intelligence WSI and then from October 2006 to November 2007, he was head of the newly created sluzba Kontrwywiadu Wojskowego.

Since July 20, 2010 he is chairman of PiS parliamentary committee, which deals with the study of the plane crash near Smolensk as the alleged sabotage.

Macierewicz is anti - liberal, and against Poland's membership in the EU.
