Antonio Colorado

Antonio J. Colorado Laguna ( born September 8, 1939 in New York City ) is a Puerto Rican politician. In the years 1992 and 1993, he represented Puerto Rico as a delegate ( Resident Commissioner ) in the House of Representatives of the United States.

Career

Antonio Colorado attended the University of Puerto Rico Affiliate public school and then the local high school. Until 1962 he studied at the Boston University. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Puerto Rico and Harvard University and his 1966 was admitted to the bar in 1969, he began to work in this profession. From 1966 to 1968 he was legal adviser to the Economic Development Administration of Puerto Rico in tax matters. In 1973 he was part of a commission for the reform of the tax laws of Puerto Rico. From 1978 to 1980 he held at the University of Puerto Rico and the Inter American University of Puerto Rico lectures on tax law. In 1985 he was appointed by Governor Rafael Hernández Colón to the commissioner for economic development in Puerto Rico. Between 1990 and 1992 he practiced there as a successor of Sila María Calderón from the Office of the Secretary of State. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party and the Puerto Rican Partido Popular Democrático.

After the resignation of non-voting delegates to Congress Jaime Fuster Colorado was appointed to succeed him in Congress, where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1992. Since he has not been confirmed at the regular congressional elections of 1992, he could only finish the current term in Congress until January 3, 1993. Today, he heads the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority in Ceiba. There was formerly a naval base in the United States Navy, the degenerated after site closure. Now this area is revitalized.
