Antonio Maria Lucchini

Antonio Maria Lucchini (also Luchini, * 1690; ? † after 1730 ) was an Italian librettist.

Life

Lucchini belonged to the Venetian middle class. His first known libretto was listed in 1716 with music by Antonio Lotti. In 1717 Lucchini went with Lotti to Dresden, where he was hired as Hoflibrettist. As Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony did not count it the first set of the librettist, was its main purpose in writing oratorios, serenades and cantata texts as well as the Edit existing libretti; However, he also wrote two of his own librettos for Dresden, both of which were set to music by Lotti. Lucchinis stay in Dresden came to an abrupt end when he was involved in a scandal involving a woman; he fled back to Italy and wrote there from 1720 to 1730, seven other libretti for Venice and Rome.
