Antonio Mota

Antonio Mota Romero ( born January 26, 1939 in Mexico City; † 13 September 1986) was a Mexican football goalkeeper.

Biography

Association

Antonio " Piolin " Mota played for Club Deportivo Oro and Club Necaxa. Reliable data on the duration of his club stations are not known. In the English language version of its membership is given to Oro 1959-1964 and called Necaxa for the subsequent period 1964-1971. The present World Cup statistics confirm at least that he was in 1962 and 1970, Oro at Necaxa under contract. While a source confirms that he played in the 1965/66 season for Necaxa, he stood under the RSSSF international match statistics, at least in the 1968/69 season (again) at Oro under contract, while he ( again ) was 1969/70 to Necaxa.

National

Between 1961 and 1970, Mota came to a total of 15 appearances for the Mexican national soccer team. His international debut, he completed on April 19, 1961 during a friendly match in the Netherlands, which Mexico won 2-1. His last international match on September 30, he graduated in 1970 with a friendly match in Brazil, which was lost with 1:2. In an international match, he experienced his darkest hour, on 10 May 1961 in England, when he played the full distance and suffered the Mexicans with the highest 0:8 defeat their countries game history.

Mota was twice the World Cup squad in Mexico: In 1962 he was third goalkeeper behind Carbajal and Gómez, 1970, second goalkeeper behind Calderón. To a world he did not use.
