Antonio Zapata y Cisneros

Antonio Zapata y Cisneros (* October 8, 1550, † April 27, 1635 ) was a Spanish cardinal.

He is one of the so-called Kronkardinälen and owes his appointment as Cardinal in 1604 the work of the Minion Minister Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas. Unlike the same time reigning with him Spanish Kronkardinal Bernardo de Sandoval y Rojas, he held after his appointment for twelve years in Rome and represented his country at the Curia or the Spanish royal court. Both in the conclave of 1605, from the Camillo Borghese as Paul V. emerged, as well as in the conclave in 1621, Zapata was the Spanish section leader. In the conclave of 1605, he made sure that one of the Spanish crown suitable candidate was successful.
