Antonov An-71

The Antonov An -71 ( NATO reporting name: " Madcap " ) is a Soviet AWACS (Russian DRLO ) - plane. The machine is a variant of the Antonov An-72 and corresponds to this also in the interpretation.

Major differences are the change is accompanied by a negative sweep vertical tail fin, which carries the early warning radar, more powerful main engines and a third RD -36A engine, which was installed in the rear fuselage.

History

Work began in the spring of 1983 under the direction of Pyotr Balabujew. For the first two test models, the two prototypes of the An-72 were rebuilt. First rolling tests were carried out on July 5, 1985, seven days later was carried out by Alexander Tkachenko on 12 July 1985 at 14:30 with the first prototype of the aircraft identification SSSR 780 151, the first flight. The second machine ( identifier SSSR 780 361 ) launched on 28 February 1986 for the first time. A total of only three prototypes were produced, the fourth was not completed within the specified period. Parts of the fourth machine were used for further testing of the first prototype after it was damaged in a crash landing. The first two prototypes were generally in the flight test, the third was used for static tests in the Kharkov aircraft factory. The program was set in 1990 after a total of 749 flights in favor of the Yakovlev Yak -44.
