Antti Niemi, Mikko ( born May 31, 1972 in Oulu) is a former Finnish football goalkeeper, who was most recently at Portsmouth under contract there, however, was not used.

Career

The first station of the professional goalkeeper was HJK Helsinki. He was brought into the first team at HJK 1990. In January 1996 we went to FC Copenhagen in Denmark. In June 1997, he joined the first time on the British Isles to Glasgow Rangers. In 1999 it went on to Heart of Midlothian. In 2002, Niemi in the south to Southampton FC. From January 2006 to Niemi guarded the gate of Fulham FC.

Niemi played 67 times in the Finnish national football team. In 2004 he was named Footballer of the Year in Finland. In September 2008, he ended his career due to a hand injury. Together with Satu Kunnas, the longtime goalkeeper of the Finnish Women's National Team, Niemi was appointed as ambassador of the 2009 European Championship in Finland.
