Oulun Luistinseura

Oulu Luistinseura (abbreviated OLS) is a sports club from the northern Finnish coastal town of Oulu. The association maintains divisions in football, bandy, bowling and Floorball.

History

The club was founded in 1880 under the Swedish name Skridskoklubben i Uleåborg ( skating club in Oulu). After the game was shut down in 1895, the newly founded Club 1908 under the Finnish name today. Besides Bandy also football was played in 1941 in a club, bowled from 1957. The floorball department was launched in 1998.

Bandy

With 16 Finnish championship OLS is behind IFK Helsingfors (17 items ) and together with Warkauden Pallo -35 ( also 16 items) the second most successful Bandyverein Finland. The club won the championship in 1970, then 1975-1977 three times in a row, 1979, 1982 to 1984 again three times in a row, 1986, 1990, 1991, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009 and 2014. Moreover, OLS won since 1962 twelve runner-up.

In 1976 OLS as so far only, not originating from Sweden or Russia club the Bandy World Cup, the discharged annually World Cup for club teams in Bandy. In the final against Västerås SK from Sweden Oulu won 3-2.

The department was founded in 1998.

In the 2013/14 season, both the men's and the women's team played first class.

Football

The football section of OLS was founded in 1941 by Bandyspielern of the association. Independently of the club never played first-class. In autumn 1991 the footballers formed together with the football department of Oulu Oulu Työväen Palloilijat FC, ​​who played in 1992 and 1994 in the top Finnish league and both seasons each finished in last place and relegation. After the 1994 season, the bankrupt club disbanded again.

Second class played the club in 1978, 1991, 2003, 2005.
