The Aper Tief is a small river in the Lower Saxon communities Apen district Ammerland and Detern in Samtgemeinde Jümme in the district of Leer. It begins west of Apen at the confluence of the Great Süderbäke and the Great Norderbäke, extends approximately in an east-west direction and flows south of the community Detern in the Jümme. Nature reserve

The nature reserve " Aper Tief " with the indicator NSG WE 221 is 75 acres in size. It is located south of the Aper lows between the villages Apen and Augustfehn in the municipality in the district of Apen Ammer country. In the south of the nature reserve is now home to the dike of Aper lows of 2005 was moved from the banks of the lows on a road south of it running. After the relocation of the dike line the surfaces between the Aper Tief and the seawall at high tide are partially flooded. Thus here arises a floodplain landscape with river flats and alluvial forests.

In the south of the reserve are two of the runs on the dike road accessible viewing platforms that can be used for nature observation. Another viewpoint is located on a pumping station on the north bank of the Aper lows at Augustfehn.

The area has been available since December 17, 1994 under nature protection. Competent lower nature conservation authority is the county Ammer country.
