Aphyocharax

Rotflossensalmler ( Aphyocharax anisitsi )

Aphyocharax is a genus of the Real tetras ( Characidae ) located. Developed by a particularly strong first postorbital, a skull bone behind the eyes, different from all other tetras Aphyocharax is therefore placed in its own monotypic subfamily. The slender fish are 2.7 to 8 inches long and have a slender, elongated body. In the pines, they have a number of, mostly dreispitziger teeth.

The fish live in South America from Venezuela to Paraguay in the middle and upper layers of its home waters. You are free spawners, which release their gametes near the water surface.

Some members of the genus are popular freshwater aquarium fish.
