Reception

Mike Powell of Pitchfork Media awarded April 8, 2011, eight out of ten points on the board. He writes in his review:

" Callahan Has nothing to add to the general conversation about music in 2011 but is making the best albums of his career. And Despite The superficial changes he makes to his sound or focus, everything he's done ends on similar gestures: a stare, a nod, and the quiet question of Whether trying to get to the heart of something is the same thing as Actually getting to it. "

" Callahan adds to the discourse on music in 2011 nothing added, but he is currently doing the best albums of his career. And despite the superficial changes in his music or his focus on everything is what he is doing out in a similar gestures: A Staring, a nod and quietly question whether the attempt to penetrate into the heart of things, not perhaps the same as there actually arrive. "

Andy Gill from The Independent praised the album due to its atmospheric unit and close to the listener. " The songs are cemented into delicate arrangements of piano, guitar and flute, handled like water colors. " Gill awarded four out of five stars on the album.
