Apopa is a city and a municipality in El Salvador in Central America in the department of San Salvador and has 131,286 inhabitants ( 2007), at 52 km ², making it the fourth largest city in the country and the most densely populated areas.

The city lies at an altitude of about 400 m above sea level. NN about 5 km west of Tonacatepeque and about the same distance north of the outskirts of the provincial capital San Salvador.
