Tonacatepeque is a city in El Salvador in Central America, one of three distritos / districts in the department of San Salvador, and has 90,000 inhabitants (2007).

The city is located on a Altiplano 5km east of the city Apopa and about 10 km northeast of the outskirts of the provincial capital San Salvador.
