Apostolic Vicariate of Awasa

The Apostolic Vicariate of Awasa (Latin apostolicus Vicariatus Avasanus ) is located in Ethiopia Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate with its headquarters in Awasa.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Neghelli with the Apostolic Constitution Quo in Aethiopia on March 25, 1937 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Galla and Kaffa, the Apostolic Prefecture.

On February 13, 1940, lost a part of its territory to the Prefecture Apostolic of Hosanna.

On October 15, 1969, she took the name Awasa Apostolic Prefecture. With the Apostolic Constitution Qui volente Deo she was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate.
