Apostolos Kontos

Apostolos account (Greek Απόστολος Κόντος; born November 22, 1949 in Greece ) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and coach.

Career

His career began in account with the Athens club Ionikos Neas Filadelfias. In 1969 he moved to Panathinaikos, where he played for the next 14 years and should have its most successful period. Account rose in this period the team captain and is now regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of Panathinaikos. In addition to nine championships won, he could win the Greek Cup Team three times. After the account did not come over arch-rivals Olympiakos Piraeus last Cup win in 1983 for use, he left the team in protest. With his subsequent signing of the contract with AEK Athens was changed within the Greek league with 39 years of second-oldest player. In February 1987, ended account after 28 years as a professional his active career.

National

His debut with the Greek national team gave account with a match against Turkey on December 25, 1968. During the following 14 years the account was an integral part of the Greek selection and took part in a total of two European Championships. His last game he gave on 30 May 1982 with a game against Germany. Account greatest success with the national team was winning the silver medal at the U-18 European Championship in 1970 and the bronze medal at the 1971 Mediterranean Championships in Cairo.

Coaching career

In the season 1993/94 he took over for a year, the coach of AEK Athens.
