Aprunculus of Treves

Abrunculus (also Aprunculus, Aponculus ) ( † about 525/526 ) was after 511 Bishop of Trier. He is venerated as a saint.

Life

It may have belonged to the clergy, Theodoric I. heranzog to refresh the outdated Trier Church from Auvergne.

Unhistorical is the report that St. Gallus to have worked in Trier in his time, but this lived much later than Abrunculus.

The widespread lack of precipitation of his person and the other bishops of Trier end of the 5th and early 6th century in contemporary sources speaks for a relatively small (political ) importance of Trier Church at this time.
