Aquifer test

A pumping test is a hydrogeological field trial. From a well is pumped at a defined flow rate of water, causing the water level is lowered in the well itself and in the surrounding area. It forms in the course of a lowering funnel which continues to spread with increasing time and depth.

Depending on the objective differentiates different types:

A hydrological pumping test is usually carried out at a constant flow rate, while the feed rate is gradually increased during power pumping test.

For evaluation of pumping tests, in particular for determining the transmissivity and the Durchlässigkeitsbeiwerts, we mostly used an analytical groundwater model. The pumping test is for the determination of aquifer characteristics in large-scale areas the most reliable test method.
