Arak, Iran

Arak (Persian اراک ) is the capital and with almost 500,000 inhabitants (as of 2010) the largest city of Markazi province in Iran. The city is surrounded on the west, east and south by mountains and bordered by the cities of Qom and Isfahan. Arak is about 1,750 m above sea level and is located 280 km from the capital Tehran away.

About 52 km north west of Arak builds the Iranian government the IR - 40, a heavy water reactor, which could provide plutonium.
