Arapuni

Arapuni is a rural community on the Waikato River in the Waikato region in the North Island of New Zealand.

The population of the town was at the censuses of 2211 (1996) through 2163 (2001) and 2145 (2006) slightly.

Near the village, the Arapuni Power Station, a hydroelectric power plant, the dam impounds Lake Arapuni is. Below the dam performs a suspension bridge that Arapuni suspension bridge over the river.

The dam at Arapuni was taken in 1929 in operation. The power plant consists of eight turbines with a total of 196 MW of power, so it is the most powerful of the power stations on the Waikato River. The power plant is operated by Mighty River Power.
