Archduchess Margarethe Klementine of Austria
Archduchess Margarethe Clementine Maria of Austria ( born July 6, 1870 in Alcsút, Hungary, † May 2, 1955 in Regensburg ) was a member of the House of Habsburg- Lorraine and by marriage Princess of Thurn and Taxis. She came from the Hungarian branch of the House of Habsburg- Lorraine, the Archduke Joseph († 1847) declined.
Life
Archduchess Margarethe Clementine was a daughter of Archduke Joseph Karl Ludwig of Austria (1833-1905) and his wife Princess Clotilde of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha (1846-1927), daughter of Prince August of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha and Princess Clementine d' Orléans.
She married Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis, son of Hereditary Prince Maximilian Anton von Thurn und Taxis and Duchess Helene in Bavaria, on 15 July 1890 in Budapest. From this marriage seven children were born:
- Franz Joseph (1893-1971) ∞ 1920 Princess Elisabeth of Braganza ( 1894-1970 )
- Karl August (1898-1982) ∞ 1921 Princess Maria Anna of Braganza ( 1899-1971 )
- Louis Philippe (1901-1933) ∞ Princess Elisabeth of Luxembourg
- Max Emanuel (1902-1994),
- Elisabeth Helene (1903-1976) ∞ 1923 Prince Friedrich Christian of Saxony, Duke of Saxony ( 1893-1968 )
- Raphael Rainer (1906-1993)
- Philipp Ernst (1908-1964)
She was up to the November Revolution of 1918 a Archduchess of Austria and Princess of Thurn and Taxis. Three years after the death of her husband Margarethe Clementine died on 2 May 1955, 84 years in Regensburg.
