Archduke Karl Ferdinand of Austria

Karl Ferdinand of Austria ( born July 29, 1818 in Vienna, † November 20, 1874 in United Seelowitz ) was the second oldest son of Archduke Karl of Austria ( 1771-1847 ) and Henrietta of Nassau -Weilburg.

As the son of " victor of Aspern " he began his military career with the Infantry Regiment No. 57 in Brno. He then took command of a brigade in Italy, after he fought in 1848 in Prague the insurgents.

In 1859, he was General in Moravia and Silesia, in 1860, he was transferred to Brno.

Progeny

1854 Karl Ferdinand married the widow of Ferdinand Charles of Austria -Este ( 1821-1849 ), Archduchess Maria Elisabeth Franziska of Austria ( 1831-1903 ), daughter of Joseph Anton Johann of Austria. The marriage produced six children:
