The Artschinische (also Artschibische, self- designation: arʃat ː s tʃ'at ) is spoken by about 1,000 people in the south of the autonomous republic of Dagestan (Russian Federation). It belongs to the subgroup of lesgischen ( Northeast Caucasian ) nachisch - Dagestani language family.
Named is the language according to the place Artschi (b).
Linguistic characteristics
The Artschinische is rich in phonemes (81) and is characterized by the phenomenon of prosodic pharyngealization.
It has 8 classes and 16 nominal case; it is a Ergativsprache and has a tendency to word order subject-object - verb ( SOV ).
