Archie Hamilton, Baron Hamilton of Epsom

Archibald Gavin Hamilton, Baron Hamilton of Epsom, PC ( born December 30, 1941) is a British politician of the Conservative Party.

Youth and Education

Hamilton is the second son of John Hamilton, 3rd Baron Hamilton of Dalzell and younger brother of James Hamilton, 4th Baron Hamilton of Dalzell. He was born at Beckington Castle, Beckington, Somerset, the country home of his parents. He went to Eton College.

Political career

Hamilton was from 1978 to 2001 Member of the House of Commons for the constituency of Epsom and Ewell. He was from 1986 to 1993 Junior Minister in the Ministry of Defence and later became chairman of the 1922 committee. He was also one of the first members of the Monday Club, and in 1996 was chairman of the Defense Policy Group. On 13 May 2005, announced that he would be charged for Life peer; On 17 June 2005 he was ' Baron Hamilton of Epsom.

Lord Hamilton is bridge player. He is a member of the Lords bridge team and the All Party Parliamentary Group Bridge.
