Architaenioglossa

Pomacea bridgesi

The Architaenioglossa are a group of non-marine snails that are the sister group of the Sorbeoconcha well and be united with them in a higher-level taxon Caenogastropoda. The monophyly is not yet secured.

Characterization

The former grounds of the taxon by means of the " architaenioglossen " radula, a radula with 3 or more marginal teeth, can not be maintained, since the trait is plesiomorphic. But Ponder and Lindberg 1997 lists four other, presumably apomorphic features ( in the area of Buccalapparats, in the mitochondria, the nervous system and in the size of Osphradiums ). However, you acknowledge that the monophyly is not particularly well founded and that the group may be paraphyletic. The group includes so far only on land and the freshwater forms ( the systematic position of a marine species which has been provided to the Architaenioglossa, is not yet finally clarified ).

System

The Architaenioglossa were founded by Ponder and Lindberg 1997 as the sister group of the Sorbeoconcha and combined with this in a higher taxon Caenogastropoda. Ponder and Lindberg 1997 as well Bouchet and Rocroi 2005 given no rank in linneisch - hierarchical sense, but described the group as " clade ", ie branch in the phylogenetic system of the worm. The group was assigned in 2000 from Systema Naturae rank order. Bouchet & Rocroi (2005) lists the following families and superfamilies within the order Architaenioglossa:

  • Superorder Caenogastropoda Cox, 1960 Ponder & Lindberg order Sorbeoconcha, 1997
