Arcoverde is a small town in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco (PE) and has 61,600 inhabitants (as of 2005, compared to 2003: 63 394 inhabitants). The name means " green sheet ". Arcoverde is located about 250 km west of the city Recife at the junction of the north-eastern Brazilian large landscapes of the coastal vegetation and the central steppe ( Sertão ), which extends as a dry area in the entire northeast of the country and is responsible for the lack of development of the country part.
