Ardisia Solanacea is a species of the genus Ardisia in the subfamily Myrsinengewächse ( Myrsinoideae ).

Description

Ardisia Solanacea is a hairless, up to 3 m tall shrub or up to 4.5 m high or occasionally even higher tree. The branches are usually colored thick and reddish. The paper-like leaves are inversely lanceolate, obovate or oblong - elliptic, they, 7.5 up to 17 cm long and 2.5 to 7 cm wide. Frontward they are short pointed or blunt, downward they are narrowed in a sharp basis. The venation is dotted translucent something like a net and after drying.

The panicle inflorescences are axillary and up to three ( rarely up to 6.5 ) cm long. The flower stalks are 1-3 cm long. The sepals have a length of 2 to 4 mm and are free from each other. You are depressed ovate, almost circular or kidney-shaped, dotted and ciliated. The crown is pale mauve to pink, the Corolla lobe are ovate -elliptic or oblong - elliptic, asymmetric, and dotted with small glands scattered.

The 8 mm long and 11 mm wide fruits are flattened, first pink, later black. The juice is purple, the flesh white.

Occurrence

Ardisia Solanacea is native to Southeast Asia but is widely cultivated in tropical countries and is often naturalized there.
