Aretalogy
Aretalogy (Greek ἀρεταλογία praise the deeds of a god / goddess a ) denotes an enumeration of the acts of power and features of a deity.
In a narrower sense aretalogy refers to a genus of ancient poetic and religious texts from the Hellenistic- Egyptian environment. The traditional Aretalogien are mainly in the first person held, list -like enumerations of properties and deeds of the deity. Well-known examples of this form is the Epiphanierede of Isis in Apuleius and the Isis aretalogy of Kyme from the 1st century:
Still more sense aretalogy referred a report on a concrete, effected by a deity wonder, for example caused by Asclepius healing. An early example of such a votive inscription is a thanksgiving found on the Athenian Acropolis in Athena.
