Areus II.

Areus II (* 262 BC; † 254 BC), son of Akrotatos and Chilonis was 262-254 BC King of Sparta from the house of Agiaden.

When his father was killed in battle with Aristodemus of Megalopolis, Areus was not born yet. After the birth, he was King Leonidas and the son of Cleonymus, his guardian was. In the eighth year of life Areus died of disease, and the last remaining relatives Leonidas became his successor.
