  • June: Rome is sending four legions under the consuls Lucius Postumius Megellus and Quintus Mamilius Vitulus to Sicily, where they begin the siege of Agrigentum, which is defended by a Carthaginian garrison under Hannibal Gisco.

Eastern Mediterranean

  • I. Eumenes of Pergamum wins Sardis against the Seleucid Empire under Antiochus I. He consolidates its independent position.
  • The Spartan king Akrotatos falls in battle against Aristodemus of Megalopolis. Its at this point not yet born son Areus II after his birth, his successor under the tutelage of his uncle Leonidas.
