Argy

Argy is a commune with 621 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Indre in the Centre region; it belongs to the district Châteauroux and Canton Buzançais.

History

The community Argy Argy grouped around the castle, which dates in its present form from the 15th century, and its predecessor was more like a country house than a castle. The Lords of Argy were under the Lords of Buzançais until a dispute between the two families, which broke out in 1461, in 1468 led to King Louis XI. Argy directly Tours imputed.

A gentleman of Argy is first mentioned in 1115 on the occasion of the founding of Notre -Dame du Landais Abbey; whose descendants in the male line had the place until the end of the 13th century. Through marriage Argy went to the Lord of Prungé, whose daughter inherited the place at the Brillac family, which became extinct in 1585. Their heirs of the family Crevant sold Argy 1636 Jean Philippeaux, Lord of Buzançais, † 1660.

1766 auctioned Douet Claude de la Boulaye Argy, whose legacy Gabriel Isaac de Douet a Boulaye died 1797. 1790 Argy was determined in the establishment of the departments for administrative seat of a canton, which the municipalities Ménétréols, Pellevoisin, Sougé and Villegoin seniority; the canton was later disbanded, the communities were distributed to different cantons, Argy even slammed Buzançais.
