Ark (Norwegian band)

Ark (often ARK) was a Norwegian progressive metal band from the dead, which was founded in 1990, separated in 2002, reunited in 2009 and in 2011 was re-dissolved.

History

The band was founded by John Macaluso, drummer for the band TNT, and gates Østby, guitarist of the band Conception, in 1990. As a singer arrived a short time later Jørn land to the group. Their self-titled debut album they released in 1999.

For the second album the band went into the Area 51 Studios, where they recorded the album Burn the Sun under the direction of Tommy Newton. As a bassist Randy Coven was there (Steve Vai, Steve Morse) and keyboardist Mats Olausson as ( Yngwie Malmsteen ) to hear. The album was released in 2001 via InsideOut Music. In 2002, the band parted ways, found in 2009 briefly together again until they finally disbanded in 2011.

Style

The band plays classic, technically challenging progressive metal, with the vocals of Jørn land is particularly striking.

The title The Hunchback of Notre Dame from the album Ark and Just a Little from the album Burn the Sun exhibit unmistakable flamenco elements.
