Arkhom Chenglai

Arkhom Chenglai ( Muay Thai known as Issara Sakgreerin; born June 11, 1970 in Amphoe Mueang Trang, Trang Province ) is a former Thai boxer. Chenglai was silver medalist at the Asian Games 1994 and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games 1992.

Career

Muay Thai

Chenglai began 12 years ago with the Muay Thai and came to Bangkok, where he was lightweight champion in the prestigious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium later. He suggested, among others here Ramon Dekkers from Holland.

Boxing

In 1991, Chenglai to boxing and became an instant Thai welterweight champion ( -67 kg ). In 1992, he joined the Asian Championships in Bangkok and won the bronze medal. This Chenglai be qualified for the 1992 Olympics, where he, after victories over Yusuf Khateri, Iran ( 13:7 ), Nicodemus Odore, Kenya ( 13:10 ), and Vitalijus Karpačiauskas, Lithuania ( 9:6 ), the semi-finals which he against the eventual Olympic gold medalist Michael Carruth, Ireland ( 11:4 ), lost and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.

1994 Chenglai reached the finals of the World Cup in Bangkok, had to be in this but the Uzbeks Nariman Ataev by KO in the third round defeated. Others

Chenglai earned a bachelor's degree at the Rajabhat University Chandrakasem and today operates a restaurant in his hometown.
