Michael Carruth

Michael Carruth ( born July 9, 1967 in Dublin ) is a former Irish boxer. He was Olympic champion in 1992 welterweight and 1994 to 2000 professional boxer.

Career

Amateur career

Michael Carruth comes from a Dublin family, was in the boxes at home for many years. His father was a boxing club coach at Green Hills BC in Dublin, where he also began boxing at the age of eight years. His three brothers were boxers. Michael Carruth was southpaw, ie, that his left hand was the hand shock. During his amateur time he was a member of the Irish Army.

Professional career

His first professional fight denied Michael Carruth after its exit from the Irish Army on February 26, 1994 in London against the Englishman George Wilson, whom he defeated on points.
