Armstrong is a small impact crater in the southern part of the Sea of Tranquility. It lies about 50 kilometers northeast of the landing area of Apollo 11 north of the crater is the impact point of Ranger 8
Named after Neil Armstrong, commander of the lunar landing mission of Apollo 11, he is the most easterly in a series of three craters that were named in honor of the crew of Apollo 11.
Before the renaming by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU ), he was known as Sabine E. The crater Sabine is located west of Armstrong
