Árnafjørður

Árnafjørður [ ˌ ɔdna FJO ː ɹʊɹ ] (Danish: Arnefjord ) is a place of the Faroe Islands in the North Island Borðoy.

Árnafjørður is located on the deep fjord, Árnfjarðavík on the east coast Borðoys.

1875 stranded here in an abandoned Norwegian ship, which was loaded to the brim with wood. On the treeless Faroe Islands Wood is a highly sought after building material, which must always be imported (apart from driftwood ). The charge of this ship was sold at an auction and then led to a drastic reduction in wood prices in the Faroe Islands. It is narrated that it was thus possible to build an entire house for 25 crowns.

The School of Árnafjørður was founded on 27 October 1904.
