Arnaldo Calveyra

Arnaldo Calveyra (* 1929 in Gobernador Mansilla, Entre Ríos Province ) is an Argentine playwright and writer.

Life

With 14 years Calveyra came in 1943 to a school to Concepcion del Uruguay and seven years later he went to study at the University of La Plata. In 1959, he had finished his studies successfully and the same year was also successful debut as a writer. The following year, he was equipped with a generous scholarship to travel in December of the same year to France.

He settled in Paris, where he lives to this day ( 2013). He closed his acquaintance with his countrymen Julio Cortazar and Alejandra Pizarnik and through this soon with French colleagues as Laure Battalion, Gaëtan Picon and Claude Roy. Some time there he also worked with Peter Brook.

When stabilized the political situation in Argentina with the election of Raúl Alfonsín, it was also in the cultural field to an upswing. Advertised by journalist Juan Gelman, the publisher José Luis Mangieri became aware of Calveyra and managed by him reprints of his books an appreciative audience in the home.
