Árni Arason Gautur ( born May 7, 1975 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic football goalkeeper who currently plays for the Belgian club Lierse SK.

Vereinskarierre

After three years in the first Deild Arason moved in 1998 to the then Norwegian champions Rosenborg Trondheim, where he remained five years, and each season won the championship title of the Tippeligaen. In 2000, he was the occasion of the award of the Kniksenprisen honored as the best goalkeeper in the Tippeligaen. 2003 brought Manchester City as a replacement for David James, Arason came but only twice in the FA Cup used. After that season he joined Vålerenga Oslo, where he stayed for three years and in 2005 was for a total of six times Norwegian champion. In March 2008, Arason moved to South Africa Thanda Royal Zulu, in the summer of the same year he returned to Norway back to the club Odd Grenland.

National

His first cap for Iceland Arason graduated in 1998 with a friendly match against Latvia, which won Iceland 4-1. Since then he has maintained 70 matches so he is on the list of players who have completed most of the games for Iceland, in 9th place Arason still part of the team of the Icelandic national team, for whom he but since 2007 only played friendly matches.
