Arnljot Eggen

Arnljot Eggen ( born August 13, 1923 in Vingelen, community Tolga; † February 4, 2009 in Oslo) was a Norwegian writer. He wrote mainly poetry and children's books, both Nynorsk and Bokmål on. In addition, he translated together with Martin Nag Polish and Russian poetry.

Life

Eggen grew up in Sør -Trøndelag in the village Ålen. His parents were Emma Kvernmo and Eystein Eggen, a merchant, who had also published poems and novels and was a close friend Johan Falkberget. Arnljot harrows began as a child with writing and has published poems in newspapers.

After some time, the school had to interrupt during the Second World War, and in Tolga started a baker's apprentice, he received his high school diploma in 1944. Thereafter he attended until 1947 the teacher training college in Elverum and then worked as a journalist and teacher in different places. In parallel, he has published poems in newspapers, books first. His debut collection of poetry Eld og is, appeared in 1951. Between 1960 and 1965 he worked at the Norwegian Folk Museum at Bygdøy. After his literary breakthrough, which he had with the 1965 published book Eit hovud i havet he lived as a freelance writer in Oslo.

While his early work is attributed to the symbolism wrote harrows from the end of the 1960s ( Sprekker i muren ) satirical, critical of capitalism literature. In the 1970s, he increasingly turned to Marxist- Leninist ideas, especially Maoism. He published regularly in the newspaper class Kampen wrote struggle and protest songs and the play Pendlerne with which he protested against exploitation.

Eggen has received several literary awards, including the Critics Award for the best children's book in 1981 and the Doblougpreis 1985. Moreover, he was forfatterforening 1965-1969 board member of the Writers' Association norske.
