Arnold Martignoni

Arnold Martignoni ( born May 19, 1901 in St. Moritz, † March 9, 1984 in Samedan ), also Arnoldo Martignoni Giovanni, was a Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender.

Life

Arnold Martignoni was the son of Luigi Ferdinando Martignoni (* February 5, 1870, † December 15, 1944 ) born in St. Moritz and grew up there. 1917 to 1920, he completed a successful apprenticeship as a plumber in educational establishments of the city of Bern. In 1932 he married ORSINA Tgetgel (* February 5, 1870, † May 23 1974 in Samedan ).

Career

Since the age of ten was Arnold Martignoni active hockey player in the EHC St. Moritz. After a stay in the U.S. (1924 to 1925) he was from 1926 to 1928 Goalkeeper of the Swiss national ice hockey team. This Martignoni won the gold medal at the European Championships in 1926 in the domestic Davos. In addition, he took part in the 1928 Winter Olympics and won the bronze medal with the team.
