Arquímedes Herrera

Arquímedes Herrera ( born August 8, 1935 in Bobures, † May 30, 2013 in Maracaibo ) was a Venezuelan track and field athlete, who was in 1964 with the 4 x 100 - meter relay at the Olympic finals.

Herrera 1961 South American champions in the 100 -meter run and second in the 200 -meter run. 1962 at the Central American and Caribbean Games Herrera took over 100 meters in third place, winning the 200m silver behind Rafael Romero and won along with Romero in the 4 x 100 - meter relay. 1963 Herrera won in the South Championships in the 100 meters in 10.2 seconds and the 200 meters in 20.9 seconds. At the Pan American Games in 1963 Herrera won the 100m silver behind the Cuban Enrique Figuerola. About 200 meters three runners finished in 21.23 seconds at the same time to the finish. Herrera won bronze behind Rafael Romero and Ollan Cassell. With the sprint relay Venezuelans won silver behind the U.S. season.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 Herrera ran the 100 meters and 200 meters respectively to the semifinals. With the sprint relay in the cast Arquímedes Herrera, Lloyd Murad, Rafael Romero and Hortensio Fucil he reached the final and ran 39.54 seconds in 6th place

At a height of 1.78 m his competition weight was 76 kg.
