Arresting

The village Arresting is a district of the city of Neustadt on the Danube in the district of Kelheim, Lower Bavaria.

Location

The place is situated about 3 km north of the Danube, without prejudice to the gently rolling hills of the beginning here Jura. Regensburg is in an easterly direction about 45 km, Ingolstadt away in a westerly 30 km away. Munich is located about 100 km south of the town.

History

Having to assume that "ing" - places from the time of the oldest baierischen Conquest come, this suggests that Arresting has already been established around the 6th or 7th century.

Its name probably comes from a man named Argisto, who settled here in the year 1000 ( " Argistingin " = " with the people of Argisto "). First records of the place in 1086 when Elizabeth, the wife of the Count of Vohburg, their wealth is in Argistingin the monastery Muenchsmuenster handed.

As part of local government reform took place on 1 January 1972 the incorporation of the village in the town of Neustadt an der Donau.

Church

The Church of St. Wolfgang dates from the 13th century and was originally built in the early Gothic style. The charnel house from the 16th century with stacked skulls, arm and foot bones is still available.

Structure

The village has 110 inhabitants and is exclusively dominated agricultural and forestry.
