Arrhidaeus

Arrhidaios, was one of the generals of Alexander the Great. About a possible participation in the Asia campaign is nothing of it survived.

After the death of Alexander in 323 BC Arrhidaios was entrusted with the transfer of the body of Babylon in the Egyptian Siwa. The funeral was begun 321 BC until after the completion of the sarcophagus. In Syria, however, he went against Attalus, who was to take over the body and result in the Macedonian Aegae at the direction of the Imperial regent Perdiccas. With the support of Ptolemy, the ruler of Egypt, he could miss the meeting with Attalus and bring the train to its destination successfully.

After the assassination of Perdiccas ' 320 BC Arrhidaios and Peithon were at the instigation of Ptolemy determined as regent. But a short time later, at the conference of Triparadeisos they were dismissed at the instigation of Eurydice again and Antipater took over the regency. In the division of provinces, he received the bright Pontine Phrygia. 319 BC, after the death of Antipater, he tried to attack Cyzicus, which, however, failed. Antigonos used this circumstance to make Arrhidaios the satrapy dispute. Arrhidaios abdicated and retired to Kios.
