Arshak Petrosian

Arshak Petrosian Bagrati (Armenian Արշակ Բագրատի Պետրոսյան, in scientific transliteration Aršak Bagrati Petrosyan, born December 16, 1953 in Yerevan ) is a Soviet- Armenian chess player who works primarily as a trainer since the 1990s. It is not closely related with the late chess champion Tigran Petrosian. The World Chess Federation FIDE leads him under the English transliteration Arshak Petrosian.

Arshak Petrosian in 1974 and 1976 champion of the Armenian SSR. In 1978 he received the title of International Master, since 1984 it bears the Grandmaster title by FIDE. Petrosian 's longtime coach of the Armenian national team. 1992 and 1996 he was additionally as a substitute also inserts in three and a team match at Chess Olympiads. At the Chess Olympiad in Turin in 2006 he was the captain ( which corresponds to the trainer) of the victorious Armenian Levon Aronian team around. Since 2004, he has the title FIDE Senior Trainer.

Arshak Petrosyan daughter Sofia since September 2000 married to Péter Lékó so that Petrosian is not only coach and is secondary, but also father of the Hungarian top player and World Cup finalists in 2004.

His current Elo rating is 2470 (as of November 2010), but he is listed as inactive.
