Arthur Treacher

Arthur Treacher veary ( born July 23, 1894 in Brighton, East Sussex, England; † December 14, 1975 in Manhasset, New York, United States) was an American film and theater actor of British origin.

Life

Childhood and youth

The son of a lawyer himself began first to study law, but was compelled by the beginning of the First World War to break off his studies. After serving as a soldier Treacher perceived first stage engagements, and retired in the mid 1920s in the United States.

Career

Treachers career began in May 1926, when he first stood on Broadway in the play The Great Temptations of the author Harold Atteridge on stage. Over the next three decades convinced Treacher in 13 pieces, including as Britannicus in Caesar and Cleopatra, a play that was brought to the stage from December 1949 to April 1950. In his latest piece, the musical Camelot although he was only substitute for the actor Robert Coote, yet the piece became one of the most successful plays of his career, which was to be seen between December 1960 and January 1963 on 870mal in New York City.

In The Battle of Paris of 1929 Treacher was also the first time in front of the movie camera. His first feature film was the well-known novel adaptation of Heidi in 1937 on the side of Shirley Temple. Two years later he again played at Temple's side in the little princess. Also known internationally was the musical film Mary Poppins in 1964. Though Treacher was predominantly seen in supporting roles, he was nevertheless awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It is undisputed that the name of the actor was the inspiration, but can still not unequivocally determine Treachers involvement in the foundation of the company. Nevertheless exist from initially over 950 restaurants in the U.S., only about 50 franchisees in the U.S. states of Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Private life and death

Treacher was married from 1940 until his death with Virginia Taylor; the couple had no children life.

He died at the age of 81 years at a cardiovascular disease.
