Artillery (band)

Artillery is a Danish thrash metal band that was formed in 1982 in Taastrup near Copenhagen.

History

Artillery was founded by guitarist Jørgen Sandau and Michael supporters, bassist Morten supporters, drummer Carsten Nielsen and singer Carsten Lohmann. At the beginning their music was referred to as Power Metal, before the term became established as a genre designation.

In 1985 Carsten Lohmann left the band and was replaced by Flemming Rönsdorf. In the same year Artillery recorded their third demo Fear of Tomorrow on, signed a contract with Neat Records and released their first album Fear of Tomorrow. This has been described as speed metal with neoclassical sense of melody and a faster version of Mercyful Fate with harsher vocals. Their second album, Terror Squad was released in 1987.

1989 Jørgen Sandau left the band. Bassist Morten supporters now took over his position as guitarist, new bass player was Peter Thor Lund. Their third album By Inheritance released in 1990 on LP and CD, from this time showed the band's music oriental influences. The band at that time had a contract with Roadrunner Records. 1991 solved Artillery on first.

In 1998 Deadly relicts has been published. This CD contains mostly old demos. In the same year Artillery regrouped and recorded their fourth album BACK on, which appeared in 1999.

2007 limited edition 4- CD box Through the Years was released. It contains all 4 albums, all demos as well as a 32-page booklet with all lyrics. All songs were also still re-mastered.

On the official site announced Michael supporters that the band was active again, Concerts flat and old songs would rehearse. It is considered a new album into consideration. However, Flemming Rönsdorf is no longer included in the band. The band was looking for a new singer and then took with Søren Adamsen their new frontman.

One Foot on the Grave, the Other on the Trash - In June 2008, the DVD Artillery appeared. This includes a record of their Metal Mania presence in Poland, during their tour of Europe.

Their fifth album When Death Comes, the band released 2009. Through the new vocalist Søren Nico Adamsen of the power metal band Crystal Eyes flowed power metal influences in a Artillerys music.

A new studio album was released under the title of My Blood 2011.

The next album Legion joined in November 2013 on Metal Blade Records.
