Metalmania

Metal Mania is an annual that takes place in Poland Metal Festival.

History

The festival originated in 1986 as the second large Polish Music Festival after the rock festival in JAROCIN, which was regarded as the biggest rock festival for young people of the Warsaw Pact since 1980. On the first Metal Mania playing on 4 and 5 April 1986 seventeen bands, including Kat, Emperor and Vader, in the Spodek Hall in Katowice. Since 1988 the festival will take place only on one day. This year included performances by Rage and Kreator on. 1989 belonged Protector and Living Death of the twelve bands that played at the festival. On April 21, 1990, the fifth Metal Mania was held, among other things, played on the Acid Drinkers, Kreator and Protector.

After 1990, the festival has been temporarily relocated to other locations in the Upper Silesian industrial area. In 1991, the Festival took place in Jastrzębie -Zdrój, it included performances by Despair, Vader, Pungent Stench, Holy Moses, Candlemass and Atrocity on. 1992 played alongside other Grave, Paradise Lost, Sepultura and Massacre in Baildon Hall in Katowice. In the years 1993 to 1995, the festival in the MOSIR hall was aligned in Zabrze, there were bands like Therion (1993 ), Cannibal Corpse (1993, 1994), Carcass (1993 ), Death ( 1993, 1995 ), Samael (1994, 1995), Unleashed (1994, 1995) and Morbid Angel ( 1994) on.

In 1996, the Metal Mania took place at the Municipal Culture and Sports Center in Jaworzno with bands like Moonspell and Fear Factory instead. 1997 and 1998, it came back to the original place in the Spodek Hall, where it has finally taken firm roots since 2000. 1999 was the festival for the last time in Baildon Hall in Katowice instead. In these years, played bands like The Gathering (1997, 1998), Samael ( 1997, 1999 ) Moonspell (1997), Tiamat (1997), Anathema (1997, 1999), Judas Priest ( 1998), Morbid Angel ( 1998) Vader (1998, 1999), Therion (1998), Hammerfall (1998), Dimmu Borgir (1998), Gorefest (1998) and Lacuna Coil (1999) at the Metal Mania.

For several years, the performances of the bands will be recorded and published in connection to DVD.
